WE DREAM TOGETHER
We Dream Together explores the challenges facing undocumented Americans. Content includes a four-part digital series and long-form editorial that follows a young woman as she seeks to better her life through education and by obtaining her Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status.
LET THE STORY DRIVE THE MESSAGE
When we began filming We Dream Together in 2012, just after the announcement of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program for young undocumented Americans, we hoped to show how DACA would transform our subject Geraldine’s life. As we followed Geraldine’s struggles, our understanding of the issue evolved. By 2015 we realized that while DACA was a step forward, only the passage of the DREAM Act would provide real security and only with the support of financial aid would she be able to complete her education goals. It also opened up greater questions about the viability of the American Dream in the modern economy.
